Djibouti – Away- 2018

To be honest, I’m pretty sure I’ve been scammed here. Whilst AMS claim that these were supposed to be worn at the 2017 CECAFA Cup, its was common knowledge that the tournament was going to be cancelled – how convenient. Given that the Djibouti FA document everything on their facebook page in mind numbing detail, and hold a celebration every time they get a new shipment of shirts, it seems very strange that there is no mention whatsoever of AMS. To be honest I’m sick of their lies, and fake shirts sold through their ebay page. At one time it was great that we were able to get hold of some very difficult countries form our lists such as South Sudan and Eritrea, but now it’s spoiling it for genuine collectors.

Comoros – Home – 2015

Comoros is a relatively new country having only gained its independence from France in 1975, and as such competed as part of France until joining FIFA in 1979. They’ve never qualified for any major tournaments, but do enter the COSAFA Cup, Arab Nations Cup and the Indian Ocean Island games. recent results are looking up though with wins over Botswana and Mauritius. Pretty much the entire squad plays in the French Leagues, but it’s captain Nadjim Abdou who is best known in England having made 300 appearances for Millwall.

Guinea – Home – ?

As with the away shirt I have yet to see this design in use, although I know that Errea did supply the Guinea national team at some point. I have my suspicions that they were made before Guinea decided to go with Airness. Either that, or someone has faked a load of Guinea shirts.

I do actually have some Guinea shirts that have been used by the Guinea national team, including a few player issue, so do use the search bar on the left hand side to search for them. if you do have photographic evidence of these shirts in use, or more information then please get in contact.

Pohnpei – Home – 2017

The story of football in Pohnpei is an interesting one, I won’t go into too much details because former coach and current ConIFA commercial director Paul Watson has written a book about it – one I can thoroughly recommend. This is my second Pohnpei shirt after the one I bought back in 2010 (although the pictures are loading so I’ll have to dig it out of storage to photo again).

Comoros – Away – 2015

I already had a couple of Comoros shirts in the collection, you can see those here and here. But this is the first time that Comoros shirts have been made commercially available, and the first time that I have been 100% about their authenticity. There are a few available, but do be careful because I have seen fakes – the biggest clue is in the collar, make sure it overlaps at the front.

Tanzania – Away – 2016

Tanzania is one of those teams that has bucket loads of fake shirts available via eBay etc. I’ve had a couple in my colelction before, but have been unable to verify them. Fortunately fellow collector Jakob De Freitas managed to get his hands on some directly from the Tanzanian FA. Please check out Jakob’s collection here.

Guinea – Away – ?

Whilst I know that Guinea were supplied by Errea at one point circa 2005, I have yet to be able to find any photos of it in use. There’s always a chance that it has been used at youth level, or in a CHAN or WAFA tournament where photos are harder to come across.

Eritrea – Third – 2015

I’m not a huge fan of this design, but embroidered badges is an improvement on previous efforts by AMS. I’m not sure that they’ve actually used the yellow shirt yet, with the blue being used for the home game against Botswana.

Eritrea – Away – 2015

Good things come to those who wait. However, I’m not a patient person, so I shelled out a lot of money for a matchworn Eritrea shirt from a refugee who quite literally fled the country with nothing but the shirt on his back. These things come and go in waves, so it was only a matter of time until some shirts became available.

From what I gather AMS mocked up a bunch of shirts and sent them off to the Eritrea national team who ended up wearing them in their World Cup Qualifiers against Botswana. I don’t think this was an official agreement, but that didn’t stop AMS flogging them in their own online shop. The reason Eritrea have not sold shirts in the past is due to strict laws banning people from selling items with Eritrean logos on.

Guinea-Bissau – Third – 2017

For some reason Guinea-Bissau had four different shirts available for their first appearance at the African Cup of Nations. Similar to Zimbabwe the delivery of the shirts went right down to the wire, arriving in Gabon just days before the opening fixture. Officially this was their fourth shirt, but it was worn in their defeat to Cameroon. Amazingly Guinea-Bissau took the lead in that match against eventual champions Cameroon by scoring one of the greatest international goals ever, Piqueti received the ball on the edge of his own area, chipped the ball over one player, nodded it past another, ran the entire length of the pitch with defenders retreating and fired it into the back of the net.
