Faroe Islands – Away – 2014

A boring Adidas template, but used in the Faroe Island’s most famous match as they beat Greece who were placed 169 places above them in the rankings.

New Zealand

New Zealand – Home – 2012

One of my favourite All Whites shirts, but worn during a poor OFC Cup campaign that saw New Zealand draw with Solomon Islands and lose to New Caledonia. In the 3rd-place Play Off the All Whites surrendered a 29 minute 3-0 lead before finally winning 4-3 thanks to an injury time goal from star striker Chris Woods.

New Zealand – Away – 2010

In 2010 New Zealand qualified for only their second Word Cup following a Play-Off win over Bahrain. Incredibly New Zealand remain the only team not to lose a match at the World Cup finals after they exited at the group stage drawing with Italy, Slovakia and Paraguay. This means Fiji have the remarkable feat of being the only side to beat New Zealand in their World Cup journey.

There was in fact only one team who went unbeaten for their World Cup 2010 campaign, and that was the British Virgin Islands who drew both their games in the first round of qualifying against The Bahamas, but went out on away goals. Both legs were actually played in the Bahamas, so it was bad luck that the designated ‘home’ match was higher scoring. To be fair The Bahamas got hammered 13-0 by Jamaica in the next round.

New Zealand – Away – 2008

First used in a World Cup qualifier against New Caledonia on 06/09/08, it was used at the 2009 Confederations Cup against Iraq, as well as pre-tournament warm-up games against Botswana and Italy. It’s final appearance was a friendly win over Jordan (09/09/09).

New Zealand – Home – 2008

This shirt appears to have first been used in an Olympic Games qualifier with Vanuautu on 03/03/08. The same design (but with the Olympic badge) was used at the 2008 Olympic games against China, Brazil and Belgium. It was later used in a World CUp qualifier with Fiji, friendlies against Thailand and Tanzania, and agaisnt Spain and South Africa at the 2009 Confederations Cup. New Zealand wore this shirt against Bahrain as they qualified for their first World Cup since 1982, and it made its final appearance in a friendly with Mexico (03/03/10) exactly 2 years after its first.

A very similar design to what The Netherlands wore at the 1994 World Cup, this Malta design was worn in the home match vs Germany.

Palestine

Palestine – Home – 2017

This Palestine shirt was worn by Shadi Shaban in Palestine’s 10-0 win over Bhutan in qualification for the AFC Asian Cup. The previous match between the two sides had finished 2-0, but flight delays and poor organisation by the Palestinian footballing authorities hammered Bhutan’s match preparations. Shadi Shaban plays for Ahli Al-Khaleel in the West Bank Premier League.

Now I can’t find any photos of Shaban playing in the match against Bhutan, but the shirt differs very slightly from the ones worn by the rest of the team, it also doesn’t feature the patches. It does however match the design used in the defeat to Algeria in the Islamic Solidarity games back in May. In those games the number 6 was assigned to Mohanad Fannoun who didn’t get a game.
